Maple Burl Pot with a natural edge thorny crown and sandals (carved feet), 8” tall x 4 1/2” diameter. This is a pretty cool piece of burl that I made into a unique pot. The carved feet are pretty subtle like Birkenstock sandals. They tend to lift the pot off the surface a bit. The natural edge is the outside surface of the burl, which makes for a thorny crown look.

This is another amazing piece of highly figured Maple Burl from Northern California. I love the midcentury look of Danish modern furniture. 7 3/4” x 4 3/4” Finished with tung oil and wax.

This is my twist on the classic Tulip Bowl shape. On this version I undercut the rim so it folds back in itself and I turned the walls thin so it is lighter than expected. The walnut wood is oriented so the growth rings are parallel to the rim, which makes the bowl look striped and provide concentric rings when you look inside. 6 1/2” x 3 1/4” finished with tung oil.

This maple burl serving bowl has an interesting copper accent on the rim. It is a classic rice bowl shape made from one of the most spectacular pieces of Big Leaf Maple I have ever seen. It was selected as Turning of the Week on the Woodturners Unlimited Facebook Page for the last week of July 2019. Finished with linseed oil. The bowl is 10 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall. This bowl is really intended as an art piece, but it is the perfect size for occasional use as a serving bowl for rice or salad. If used for serving, gently wash with cool water and dry with a hand towel.
