Wayne Jiang

Wayne Jiang is a Portland-based realist painter and teacher. Born in Guangzhou, China, he came to the U.S. at 15 and holds a degree in illustration from San Jose State University. His paintings create an ambience of stillness, solitude, and mystery, using simple scenes and objects to communicate deep emotion. His work is influenced by 17th Century Dutch genre and still life paintings, 19th and 20th Century American Realism, and documentary photography. His work has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Morris Graves Museum of Art, Triton Museum, Crocker Museum, Lan Su Chinese Garden, Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery, and Guardino Gallery.

Materials and tools used include: 17th Century Old Master painting style to create floral paintings that combine native and non-native flowers in harmonious compositions. His landscape paintings invite viewers to absorb the expansive beauty of the Pacific Northwest forests and mountains, offering a calm reflection of the seasons.
