Tom Myers
Birds of the Pacific Northwest for Kids
Wild Arts Festival is happy to host Tom Myers, an elementary school teacher, beekeeper and birder who lives in rural Oregon. While kayaking several years ago, he discovered many amazing birds and became an avid birder. He enjoys finding and also photographing them. His colorful and engaging book, Birds of the Pacific Northwest for Kids, is designed for readers from 8 to 12 years of age. The guide is loaded with accessible science, fun and unusual facts about birds, and includes keys to bird identification. Written by an educator, and featuring over 100 species common to the Pacific Northwest, it could easily be a blossoming young birder’s first field guide. Tom’s bird photography and links to his “Bird of the Week” videos can be found on his website, birdertom.com.
