When Night Comes Calling

Wild Arts Fest is pleased to welcome Sheryl Murray, imaginative illustrator of stories for children. Her latest illustrations are found in Cynthia Schumeth’s When Night Comes Calling, a story of two siblings who head outdoors on a nighttime hike and the awe-inspiring natural wonders that take place when most people are sleeping. Sheryl enjoys working collaboratively in creating books that celebrate kids of all shapes, races, cultures, and abilities; and families of all kinds. Drawing has always been her happy place, and illustrating stories for children still feels like a dream come true. She has illustrated several books, including Library Girl, Still Mine, Lulu and the Hunger Monster and Hand in Hand. Her work has earned awards such as the 2021 International Literacy Association Social Justice Literature Award, and Parents Magazine 30 Best Children’s Books of 2020.
