From early on growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Shailer Tuell has been fascinated by and immersed in the wild landscape, forests and vast open desert spaces. With explorations into areas like BioGeometry, fractal patterns and the connection between creativity and well-being, he enjoys finding ways to celebrate the beauty of trees and the spirit flowing through all forms of Life.
Shailer’s work is formed by hand using a variety of woods mostly native to the Pacific Northwest, some of which is reclaimed. Many pieces are enhanced with stone, shell, and air plant while others feature wood burned landscapes and geometries. He enjoys creating a range of smaller sized functional sculptures to larger wall hangings and each piece is inspired by natural patterns, imperfections and flow of wood grain.
