Meet the Artist

Scott Smorra

PHOTOGRAPHY

As a self-expressive artist working in the medium of photography since 2009, Scott Smorra uses a camera to explore the natural world. He believes art and nature have the power to heal, and his vision is to help people make this connection. Scott’s work is about getting lost in the wilderness and inside our minds and then finding the way back home. Rather than simply documenting the outward appearance of nature, he focuses on capturing the ephemeral moods and subtle energies experienced in the wilderness. To achieve this, each photograph is thoughtfully composed and processed to enhance the emotional resonance of the scene. His limited-edition prints utilize premium materials such as acrylic, metal, and art paper to enhance the depth and visual impact of each piece. These high-quality prints bring his work to life, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the serenity of the landscape. In a world that often feels overwhelming, Scott’s art provides a space for slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and finding inner peace.

Over the years, Scott has participated in numerous art festivals and exhibitions including solo gallery shows. Since 2023 Scott has published in several photographic magazines including two cover shots for Oregon Wild Magazine. Scott has also received awards from the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts (2023), Oregon Natural Desert Association’s photo contest (2023) and Oregon Wild Outdoor Photo Contest (2023, 2011). Presentations include "Creative Landscape Photography" (2023) and "The Art and Science of Landscape Photography" (2022, 2021, 2020).

Scott prints his expressive nature photography on premium print materials including acrylic, metal and fine art paper. All photographs are created using a camera and printed by hand or under his direct supervision.
