Swimming with Snakes: Poetry and Prose
Wild Arts Festival warmly welcomes noted lepidopterist and writer Robert Michael Pyle, the founder of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. His latest of many books is Swimming with Snakes: Poetry and Prose. He’s a full-time biologist and the author of poetry, essays, fiction and science books. A Guggenheim Fellow and winner of two National Outdoor Book Awards, this prolific author continues to capture the imagination of curious readers. Just a few of his other titles include Magdalena Mountain, Where Bigfoot Walks, Butterflies of the Pacific Northwest, and Sky Time in Gray’s River. A John Burroughs Medalist, Guggenheim Fellow, winner of two National Outdoor Book Awards and three Washington Book Awards, five-time Pushcart Prize nominee, and PEN America Art of the Essay finalist, Bob may be heard on Spotify with Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic for their album, Butterfly Launches from Spar Pole. He has worked, taught, studied, and read poems on six continents, most recently in Chile for research on a new novel.
