Marty Hogan uses traditional metalsmith techniques such as soldering, forming and hammering to fabricate jewelry from Argentium sterling silver and 14k gold. She adorns most of her pieces with carefully selected semi precious gemstones. Much of Marty’s inspiration is drawn from animals and vegetation in the natural world surrounding her.
As a child growing up in North Carolina, Marty remembers holding a piece of jewelry and wondering how it was made. Self-taught by trial and error, she began making jewelry about eight years ago following a long career as a hospice social worker. Making jewelry offers Marty a creative outlet that includes design and manipulation of raw materials into wearable one-of-a-kind objects, working with one piece at a time with attention to detail.
