We’re excited to welcome returning author, Lyanda Lynn Haupt to the Wild Arts Festival. Her newest book is Among the Birds, which she describes as “an exuberant, ever-changing wander among the birds of Cascadia, different from anything I’ve ever written. More than seventy regional species make an appearance, connected through experience, science, myth, memory, and the serendipity of our shared wild lives.” Justin Gibben’s colorful art accompanies every single bird, blending realism and whimsy in the most magical way. Among the Birds is an invitation to wonder, awareness, action, and love. Lyanda is an award-winning author of several books, including Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature, and Spirit; Mozart’s Starling; and Crow Planet, to name just a few. As a naturalist, ecophilosopher and speaker, her work is an exploration of the beautiful, complicated connections between humans and the wild, natural world. Lyanda lives in Bellingham where she writes in a studio in a ravine, surrounded by ferns and ravens and wrens.
