Meet the Artist
Lisa Laser
Drawing/Painting
Lisa Laser is an oil painter and mixed media artist born in Philadelphia, PA, who lived in New Jersey, Idaho, Washington, Hawaii, and Oregon by age 17. Her nomadic childhood led to an appreciation of proper bagels, soft pretzels, trees, the ocean, and packing light. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at Portland State University, she worked various jobs—restaurants, hospitality, frame shops, art supply stores, and house cleaning—while pursuing her art. Her 2025 exhibitions include solo shows at Brassworks Gallery and Salem on the Edge, and she is represented by both galleries. When not painting, Lisa enjoys gardening, hiking, talking to her cats, and playing board games, often listening to loud music and dancing to shake out the painter's posture.
Materials and tools used include: oil on wood panels (allowing for scraping and layering), often starting with acrylic base colors that peek through the finished oil work. She uses found wood when possible, sourced from Portland walks or reuse stores, as well as wood panels made at home or purchased locally.
