Lily Martin, cofounder of Jack Rabbit, makes botanical-inspired leather earrings alongside collaborator Noah Jack. They draw inspiration from the beauty of the natural world in every pair of leather earrings they make. By day, Noah is a bike mechanic, and Lily is a Naturopathic Doctor. They live in Corvallis with their new baby girl, Tula. Their journey making leather earrings began in 2022 by using leather scraps sourced from a local shoe company, but they later discontinued use of reclaimed leather for ecological and health reasons. Their practice remains grounded in commitments to sustainability, repurposing, and minimizing waste.
Materials and techniques used include vegetable-tanned leather, stainless steel findings, and water-based dyes. Each design is hand-drawn, converted into an original digital file and laser cut. Pieces are then dyed or painted, etched, finished, and glued by hand.
