Leslie Perrin

Drawing/Painting

Leslie Perrin's love of gardens and wild beauty led her to decades of 3-D plant wrangling—nursery work, floristry, market grower, and garden designer. In 2018, 2-D watercolor became her focus, and the Leafy Lexicon, The Ecology of Heart & Place, was born. It is home to her extensive collection of botanical watercolor art, informed by the intersection of beauty, botanical history, and spirituality.

Materials and tools used include: original botanical watercolor illustrations, fashioned into fine paper goods. Illustrations begin with live plant studies—capturing a gestural sketch onto 140# cold-press paper using a fine-tipped archival pen (.005), followed by watercolor washes. The artwork is scanned and arranged into a myriad of offerings—uplifting seasonal calendars, art books, garlands, bookmarks, boxed sets, cards, giclée prints, and kitchen towels.
