Kelli MacConnell
PrintMAKING
Kelli MacConnell’s relationship with nature continuously influences her work. After hiking the Appalachian Trail and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail, she left her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006 to join the community of artists in Portland, Oregon. She discovered her love of printmaking at Portland State University, where she received her BFA. She now resides on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, dedicated to exploring the endless possibilities of printmaking. Her work pays homage to the Pacific Northwest landscape, using the graphic power of relief printmaking to emphasize and honor the profound beauty of the natural world.
Materials and tools used include: gouges to carve wood and linoleum blocks, leaving nature-inspired images standing in relief. She then inks the blocks with a brayer and imprints the image on cotton paper with oil-based ink to create limited edition hand-pulled prints.
