A Field Guide to the Subterranean: Reclaiming the Deep Earth and our Deepest Selves

The Wild Arts Festival welcomes writer and teacher, Justin Hocking. Justin is the author, most recently, of A Field Guide to the Subterranean: Reclaiming the Deep Earth and our Deepest Selves. The book digs deeply into the earth with powerful questions about who we are and what we’ve made with our time on the planet. It is both a haunting memoir and an insightful look at society and environmental concerns. His first book, The Great Floodgates of the Wonderworld, won the Oregon Book Award and was a finalist for the PEN Center USA Award for Nonfiction. Justin served as the Executive Director of the Independent Publishing Resource Center from 2006-2014 and is a recipient of the Willamette Writers Humanitarian Award for his work in writing, publishing and literary outreach.
