Julie Jeanseau's art

Julie Jeanseau

drawing/painting

Using cradled birch, Julie Jeanseau uses oils and mark making to evoke emotion and place within abstracted realism. Her work celebrates the beauty of the Northwest, in both place and spirit.

Julie Jeanseau is a Pacific Northwest artist. She is also a part time art teacher with a BA in Art Education (‘97) and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction (‘21). She works in a variety of media, but is primarily known for her oil paintings. She owns a small studio and gallery called The Red Poppy in Monmouth, where she lives with her three daughters. Her work evokes the emotion of place with vivid colors and layered imagery. Her work often transcends the place where the image may have been inspired by to surprise the viewer and allow them to find their own place and meaning within the painting.
