Bing’s Cherries
Wild Arts Festival Book Fair welcomes the talented Seattle author and illustrator, Julia Kuo. Her work includes editorial illustrations for publications such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and The Economist. Julia is the author and illustrator of picture books including Mountainous (published October 2026), Home is a Wish and Luminous: Living Things That Light Up the Night. Most recently, Julia illustrated the book, Bing’s Cherries, by Livia Blackburne. A modern American tall tale, it blends history, folklore and imagination as a young girl and her father share cherries and imagine the life of Ah Bing, a Chinese immigrant who worked in Oregon orchards and developed the delicious cherry that bears his name. The book touches on immigration, Asian American history, cultural pride, the power of storytelling and honoring overlooked contributions. Also, this book includes a recipe!
