Joshua Rodine
GLASS
Joshua Rodine was born in rural southern Oregon in 1976. His journey as an artist began in 1997 when he began working as an apprentice under the glass artist Jason Harris. After years of honing his craft, Joshua started his own studio. He continued his education at glass schools such as Pilchuck and Eugene Glass School and studied under notable international and national glass artists. He continues his work at his studio in southern Oregon today and has work in galleries and collections around the world. Currently, Joshua resides in Southern Oregon with his wife, three children, and dog.
Materials and technique: Joshua’s glass vessels and sculpture are created by the flameworking process in which he uses a burner to heat borosilicate glass so it can be blown and sculpted into very intricate forms. After annealing in a kiln, he adds textures and patterns to the glass by sandblasting and carving. Joshua’s work is influenced by nature, dreams and experiences, and by the qualities of the material itself.
