GLASS

Johnathon Tardif works with molten glass in a distinctive process that combines deliberate technique with organic spontaneity. Based in Warren, Oregon, he has developed a unique approach to glass artistry that embraces both control and chaos in the creative process. His method involves layering colors and textures in molten glass, then at the height of its heat, submerging the piece to cause the surface to shatter in a moment of controlled chaos. This technique reveals the colored layers beneath, showing the path of the water and creating one-of-a-kind expressions that are shaped into vessels or sculptures.

Materials and tools used include: molten glass layered with colors and textures, subjected to water submersion at peak heat to create surface shattering effects, resulting in unique vessels and sculptures where the water's path reveals underlying colored layers.
