Jay Gordon

After extensive forays into music (as a professional bassist) and medicine (as a pediatrician), Jay decided to fully devote himself to drawing and painting in 2014. Since then, Jay has been learning about and experimenting with all kinds of art, including portraiture, illustration, still life, figure drawing and printmaking.
The Botanicals series developed out of a love of the beauty of flowers and a fascination with strong design. Using Jay’s own flower photography as reference material, each image was developed using classical principles of design, and then combined with experimental techniques that merge representational painting with abstraction, lending a creative charge to the deliberate design of each piece. Jay’s hope with the Botanicals series is to communicate the playground of imagination to the viewer.
Jay moved to the beautiful Rogue Valley in 2017, and is currently affiliated as painter and illustrator with Enclave Studios.
