Hilary Pfeifer

Sculpture, 2D Mixed Media

Hilary Pfeifer’s training in ceramics, woodworking and metals gave her the skill set to explore the unexpected in her art. Her artwork explores the natural world through sculpture, collage and installation, often using reclaimed wood, laser cut metal and subtly camouflaged found objects.

Hilary’s recent sculptures combine hardwoods and metal. She subtly incorporates found objects such as colored pencils or hardware bits as a decorative element whenever possible, leaving less of a footprint on the earth. Hilary considers herself to be a craft-influenced sculptor, and the technical skills learned through years of study have given her the skillset to combine reclaimed wood and many unusual materials. Her collages incorporate cutting hundreds, sometimes thousands of tiny pieces from papers, vinyl and mixed media ephemera. Hilary returns to bird themes again and again.

Hilary graduated from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 1999. Her work has been featured in American Craft Magazine, and is in the collections of the State of Oregon, The Center for Art in Wood and the White House, among many others.
