Gunter Reimnitz creates sculptures out of sheet steel. Informed by nature, he takes this rigid material steel and makes gestural pieces, many to tell their own stories. Each unique piece is created with tools of old and new. Hammers and anvils to Plasma cutters and welders. The process of transforming the sheet steel is as important to him as the end product. As one twists and bends the steel to its desired form it comes to life, and that is the moment Gunter welds it into place.
Born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska. Gunter comes from a long line of artists. He has been welding bird sculptures for the past 30 years.
