Erin Linton

2d Mixed Media

Erin Linton is a self-taught artist from Southern Oregon who uses pH-treated upcycled tea bags as a canvas. She paints gouache portraits of wildlife she encounters through her work as a wildlife rehabber. She travels widely on the Pacific Northwest fine art circuit and into the Southwest, participating in shows such as Park City's Kimball Arts Festival and the Bellevue Arts Museum Show. She is represented by three galleries in Ashland, Oregon and the surrounding area.

Materials and tools used include: a mixed media canvas made of three or four layers. A traditional canvas is first painted with India inks before applying a thin layer of archival bookbinding glue. She adheres a layer of pH-treated up-cycled teabags to this before painting the portrait on top with gouache. Additional tea bags may be cut, shaped, and painted to add further details like petals, leaves, or feathers.
