David Dahlquist
Ceramics
David Dahlquist has been making pottery for over 40 years, beginning his journey in high school under Terry Hutchinson. For many years, he balanced his ceramic practice with running a rep agency alongside his brother, maintaining his own home studio and participating in Saturday Market and occasional art fairs. When COVID-19 arrived and his brother was diagnosed with cancer, they made the difficult decision to fold their business. This pivotal moment allowed David to pursue his passion for pottery full-time, transforming a lifelong interest into his primary artistic focus.
Materials and tools used include: wheel-thrown pottery fired to cone 6, decorated using the sgraffito technique where black slip is applied to white clay and then carved away to reveal intricate designs.
