Colin Meloy
Wildwood chronicles
Wild Arts Festival is excited to host Colin Meloy, a Portland- based author of the New York Times bestselling Wildwood Chronicles, The Stars Did Wander Darkling, The Whiz Mob and the Grenadine Kid as well as two picture books, The Golden Thread: A Song for Pete Seeger and Everyone’s Awake. He often collaborates with his wife, illustrator Carson Ellis. He is also the singer and songwriter for the indie rock band the Decemberists. Wildwood is the basis of Laika’s 2026 animated film, and the inspiration for the public art display, Wildwood: Follow the Crows, which spread across Portland from August to November this year. “This book is like the wild, strange forest it describes. It is full of suspense and danger and frightening things the world has never seen, and once I stepped inside I never wanted to leave.” (Lemony Snicket) Colin lives on a farm outside of Portland with Carson, their two sons, three cats, three llamas, three goats, and some chickens.
