Clare Carpenter is the proprietor of The Rabbit Wood, a letterpress and printmaking studio in St. Johns, Portland, Oregon. Clare's work is heavily influenced by place, nature, and how our landscape is imbued with personal histories. They use letterpress as a tool for printmaking and illustration, blending traditional and contemporary print methods to express appreciation for the natural world in which they love to explore. Themes of folklore and conservation both inhabit Clare’s work, through which stories begin to emerge.
Clare uses primarily linoleum blocks and silk screen to print onto sustainable fabrics —hemp, organic cotton, and linen—to make handmade home goods such as table linens, indoor and outdoor pillows, wall hangings, and gift items.
