Fiber Arts - Decorative
Clare Carpenter is the proprietor of The Rabbit Wood (formerly Tiger Food Press), a letterpress and printmaking studio in St. Johns, Portland, Oregon. Their work is heavily influenced by place, nature, and how landscapes are imbued with personal histories. They blend traditional and contemporary print methods to express appreciation for the natural world, exploring themes of folklore and conservation. Their work is inspired by their love of the wilderness of Oregon, and they produce all of their work in their Portland studio.
Materials and tools used include: linoleum blocks and silk screen to print onto sustainable fabrics such as hemp, organic cotton, and linen. These fabrics are then made into handmade home goods, including table linens, indoor and outdoor pillows, wall hangings, and gift items. They also offer a selection of signed and numbered framed linocuts and letterpress printed cards.
