GLASS
Christopher Rich traveled to Murano, Italy to study the techniques of present-day glass masters and the history of glass blowing. He also studied art with a master of painting, Professor Silvio Loffredo of The Florence Academy of Art. His European journey then took him to England to learn innovative British glass blowing techniques at the renowned International Glass Centre in Brierley Hill. Returning to the US in 1994, he designed and built his own glass studio in Portland, Oregon, where he pursues his passion full-time. He can be found most weekends of the year at The Portland Saturday Market along the city's waterfront.
Materials and tools used include: hand-blown glass, heated to 2,000 degrees and formed using traditional techniques. Much of his focus is to bring beauty and color to the garden by creating unique birdbaths, bird feeders, and creative sculpture. Materials used include glass, copper, wood, and metal.
