Born and raised in Portland, I developed an appreciation for the outdoors early on, starting with my love of gardening which led to a degree in Landscape Architecture. Working at my father’s printing plant taught me a love of type and letterforms which started me out in a career in print communication. I've worked for 30 years as a graphic designer creating interesting and informative print pieces. I love to get outdoors and hike the endless variety of nearby trails, and I wanted a way to share the beauty of these places I discover. By combining my skill at drawing with computer expertise I can create these vector-based illustrations, highlighting the colors and textures found in nature. There are so many amazing mountains, deserts and beaches near our home in Portland, the supply of subjects is endless!
