Hiking Oregon’s Fire Lookouts

Have you ever wanted to stay in a fire lookout? Come to the Wild Arts Festival and meet native Oregonian Cheryl Hill, hiker, historian, photographer and author of Hiking Oregon’s Fire Lookouts. In it, Cheryl describes hikes to 45 lookouts, 40 of which are still standing. Each entry includes everything hikers need to plan a successful outing: driving directions, trail maps, elevation details, permit info and notes on plants, animals and wildfire history. She also includes information on how to stay in a lookout. Her previous historical works include Mount Hood National Forest and Fire Lookouts of Oregon. A public librarian by trade, Cheryl enjoys backpacking, volunteering and working towards her goal of visiting every standing fire lookout in Oregon.
