Every Penguin in the World: The Quest to See Them All
Pacific Lutheran University English professor Charles Bergman never imagined, in his words, “that I’d finish my teaching career leading students to Antarctica.” But after guiding students to explore the relationship between nature and literature through travel to over a dozen countries, he did in fact make it to Antarctica.
There he fell in love with penguins, and that love led to his book Every Penguin in the World: The Quest to See Them All (Sasquatch Books), available at the Wild Arts Festival. When he wasn’t busy teaching or leading students around the world, he put his writing and photography skills to work in several other books, including Orion’s Legacy a cultural history of hunting; Wild Echoes, a search for North America’s most endangered animals; and Red Delta, about the place where the much used and abused Colorado River empties into the Pacific.
