In Search of Portland: Exploring a Transforming City

Brian Libby has spent over twenty-five years as a journalist, critic, and photographer, covering architecture, visual art, and film. He will join us at this year’s Wild Arts Festival with his book In Search of Portland: Exploring a Transforming City. Whether you live in the city of roses, visit occasionally, prefer a nice urban sightseeing hike, or just love a good backstory, Brian’s book expounds on the built environment and the humans who helped shape it. With one hundred fascinating points of interest told through personal reflection, interviews, and anecdotal history, the spirit of the city’s iconic spaces is revealed. Brian’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Oregonian, Oregon ArtsWatch, Dwell, Metropolis, The Architect’s Newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, and The Atlantic, among others. He lives with his wife, Valarie, and cat, Jenny, in Portland, Oregon.
