Joining the Wild Arts Festival again this year is children’s author and science illustrator Audrey Sauble. With a passion for exploring nature through picture books, she will be presenting her many books for kids including a 2026 edition of Can a Rock Grow - wonderfully illustrated and perfect for kids who love exploring nature and have big questions about how the world works. Other charming books include Quien Puso el Huevo?, the Spanish speaking edition of Who Laid the Egg?, an easy-to-read book for young explorers that introduces children to some of the wonderful egg-laying animals in our world. She’s the author of Acorn Party: A Pacific Northwest Counting Story, as well as a series of fun nonfiction books that inspire kids to ask questions about nature such as A Bee or Not a Bee?. Audrey started writing stories years ago, but swapped to writing for kids when her oldest was a toddler. She lives in Portland with her husband and two children (who sometimes agree to join her for bug watching, nature journaling, and other outdoor shenanigans).
