April Ottey

Jewelry

April Ottey creates work that explores the transformative power of nature. She focuses on the intricate details of the natural world, in the architecture, texture, and shape of natural artifacts. April uses ethically sourced gems and metals and casts directly from organic materials in gold and silver, capturing their delicate and fleeting forms and textures. The transformation of these details to wearable art challenges and engages her continually.

April has been a jeweler for 30 years as well as a high school jewelry teacher for 10 years. Prior to making jewelry, she received a MFA in photography from Central Washington University. She has a studio in my home in Port Townsend, Washington.
