Wild Arts Festival welcomes the talented Olympia-based illustrator Anneke Wilder. Anneke holds degrees in biology and studio art as well as a certificate in natural science illustration from the University of Washington. A very recent project of hers was illustrating the fascinating book, For the Love of Bats: Exploring Nature at Night with the West’s Flying Mammals, written by bat advocate and conservationist, Niki Desautels. This book delves into interesting details from echolocation and hibernation to feeding habits and migration of bats. Included are an additional guide to all 32 species commonly found west of the Rockies, resources for learning more, tips for observing bats and guidance on creating backyard habitats with bat houses. What a perfect combination of exquisite illustrations and fascinating science, inviting readers to embrace the wonder of these extraordinary mammals.
