Amanda Houston

Drawing/Painting

Amanda Houston is a pastelist and oil painter. She works with soft pastels on a variety of surfaces, from sanded pastel papers to her own prepared boards and copper plates creating layers of subtle color to create depth and harmony. Amanda similarly works with oils on canvas applying the color in a variety of layers, working from dark to light, thin washes to thick impasto layers to create texture and depth.

After spending almost 20 years in the corporate world in apparel design, Amamda left corporate and began to paint. After painting for 16 years, first as a hobby and now as a nationally published and internationally collected artist, she is represented by 3 galleries along the west coast including Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA, Cole Gallery in Edmonds, WA and Valley Art Gallery in Forest Grove, OR. As a retired triathlete, when she’s not doing her art she still loves to ride her bike, swim, do yoga, cook, garden, and travel.
